Alliance of Philippine Partners for Enterprise Development Inc.(APPEND) together with Katuwang Resource Center Inc. (KRCI) turned over two classrooms to Talacagay Elementary School. of Municipality of Hinobaan this Thursday, April 28, 2016.
The program was formally opened through a prayer by the KRCI Board of Trustees(BOT) Secretary Dr. Adolfo Gilpo.
Afterwards, Mr Lawrence Ledesma shared how this program came to be. According to him it was in 2014 that he was informed that there is a pre-budget initiative from APPEND Partylist to build classrooms. His job is to look for a school that needed it the most. Being involved in the Municipality Planning and Development Branch,he was able to have a data that he needed and has chosen Talacagay Elementary School as beneficiary. Lately, he received an information that the classroom construction has already been done, in fact has already been utilized, only a formal blessing and turn over is lacking.
Afterwards, Engr. Narciso San Miguel, 5th Nominee of APPEND Partylist shared that this is just one of the many initiatives and projects of the organization that focus on education as APPEND also supports students across the Philippines through its scholarship program called Knowledge for Inspiring Leadership, Opportunities and Spirituality(KILOS). He also added that APPEND has already been serving for 25 years.
The school principal Mr. Gregorio Piansay, shared how surprised he is for this and yet very thankful to everyone who made this possible. This has been emphasized as well by the Brgy. Captain of Talacagay, Hon. Gilbert Cordova who said that this is an important contribution as “The youth is the hope of this nation”.
The event was also graced with the presence of representatives from the mayor’s office, representative from DPWH, Engr. Fritz Baguna, the Municipality Planning and Development Coordinator, Engr. Ami Ambagan,and the Parents and Teachers Association President Mr. Norberto Joseco.
A ceremonial ribbon cutting and unveiling of the mark was then done with the help of two pupils from the school. A formal blessing led by Pastor Daniel Salcedo was then conducted.
It is the mission of APPEND Partylist to eradicate poverty to promote national transformation by contributing to the growth and development of God-fearing, socially-responsible micro entrepreneurs. KRCI on the other hand, is a non-profit, non government organization established to glorify God by empowering the entrepreneurial poor for sustainable livelihood.
